In an extraordinary moment at Panna Tiger Reserve, a 57-year-old elephant named Anarkali delivered twin female calves — an event wildlife experts are calling exceptionally rare.
The calves were born nearly three hours apart, under the close supervision of veterinarians and forest officials. Both newborns, along with their mother, are reported to be healthy and stable.
Wildlife veterinarian Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Gupta described the birth as “a wonder of nature and a rare occurrence,” noting that elephant twin births are uncommon even in protected environments.
Although Panna Tiger Reserve is globally known for its tiger conservation success, it also supports a thriving elephant population. With the arrival of Anarkali’s twins, the reserve’s elephant count has risen to 21 — and officials confirmed this is the first recorded twin elephant birth in the reserve’s history.
Field Director Naresh Singh Yadav shared that special care measures are in place for the mother and calves. Anarkali is being provided a highly nutritious diet including porridge, sugarcane, jaggery, and pure ghee laddus, while a dedicated team has been assigned exclusively to monitor and support the newborns.
Twin births in elephants are estimated to occur in roughly 1% of pregnancies, and survival rates in the wild can be challenging — making this healthy delivery even more remarkable.
A powerful reminder that even in the wild, nature still finds ways to surprise us.

Everyone is calling this loving long-haired tabby cat a hero. And when you hear what Masha the cat did, you’ll know that God sent this furry friend to be a guardian angel and save a baby’s life!
After finding an abandoned baby boy in Russia dumped on the street, Masha the cat climbed into the box with the baby to keep him warm.
Then, the caring momma cat got help by meowing non-stop to draw attention to the poor 3-month-old baby boy.
That’s when Irina Lavrova, a retired woman who lived nearby, heard Masha’s cries.
The woman had walked out to empty her trash. And there, by the apartment complex’s trashcans, Masha the cat sat crying loudly for help.
Irina recognized Masha as a stray cat she and her neighbors had been taking care of. And she knew Masha was normally very calm and friendly.
“She is very placid and friendly so when I heard her mewing I thought that perhaps she had injured herself because normally she would have come and said hello to me,” Irina said.
Concerned for the kitty, Irina went to investigate. And that’s when she spied Masha the cat peeking at her from an abandoned box in the middle of the cans.
Irina walked closer, and what she found completely stunned her. She could not believe her eyes when she looked inside the box and saw the baby boy lying there with Masha snuggled up next to him!
“You can imagine my shock when I saw her lying in a box next to a baby” exclaimed Irina.
“Clearly her mothering instincts had taken over and she wanted to protect the child,” she added.
Quickly, Irina called an ambulance. They took the infant to hospital where doctors gave him a check-up. Miraculously, the baby was unharmed.
A hospital spokesman said, ‘The baby had only been outside for a few hours and thanks to Masha and the child’s clothing he was not damaged by the experience.’
Now local residents are treating Masha the cat like the hero she is.
‘Everyone in the block is very proud of her and we have all spoiled her rotten by giving her her favorite food.’ Irina said.
What a blessed miracle that God sent this caring creature to watch over the poor abandoned baby in his time of need! Please pray that both this precious baby boy and the furry guardian angel who cared for him will find loving homes. God clearly has big plans for this special little boy to have kept him safe from harm in such a special way!

After being abandoned by his own family, a small puppy was left alone and confused on the street. Not understanding what had happened, he stayed in the same spot, quietly waiting and hoping someone would come back for him.
That’s when a stray kitten approached him. Instead of walking away, the tiny feline gently leaned against the puppy, almost as if trying to comfort him during his difficult moment.
From that day on, the two became inseparable. They stayed together through everything, sharing food, water, and even a place to sleep while facing life on the streets side by side.
People in the neighborhood were deeply touched by the unlikely friendship between the puppy and the kitten. Soon, a rescue group stepped in and brought both of them to a shelter.
The best part? They were later adopted by the same family, allowing the two best friends to stay together and start a new life filled with love and care
