How To Make All-Natural Mosquito Repellent Using A Mason Jar

Mosquitoes are my arch nemesis. For some reason, they have been especially attracted to me for my entire life. The people around me seem to be largely unbothered, and I’m off to the side being absolutely swarmed. Insect repellent sprays and citronella candles work to an extent, but I don’t like applying such harsh chemicals to my skin and breathing them in through the air.

source: Shutterstock All-Natural Mason Jar Mosquito RepellentWhat You Need1 mason jar (any size, preferably wide-mouthed)1 lemon (sliced)1 lime (sliced)2–3 sprigs of fresh rosemaryEssential oils (10 drops each of lemon, lavender, citronella, or eucalyptus)Water (enough to fill the jar halfway)Floating candle or tea lightInstructions:Fill the Jar:Place the sliced lemon, lime, and rosemary sprigs inside the mason jar.Add Water:Fill the jar halfway (or up to ¾ full) with clean water.Add Essential Oils:Add about 10 drops each of mosquito-repelling essential oils like citronella, eucalyptus, or lavender.Place the Candle:Put a floating candle or tea light on top of the water.Light and Enjoy:Light the candle whenever you’re sitting outside.The heat from the candle will help release the natural oils and keep mosquitoes away.Extra Tips Make several jars and place them around your patio or garden.
Replace the water and ingredients every 2–3 days for maximum effectiveness.
You can also add basil or mint leaves for extra mosquito-repelling power.
