The next morning, Claire showed up like nothing had happened—same soft smile, same backpack.
Rose opened the door, holding a printed screenshot of the livestream. Claire’s face drained of color. She didn’t speak. Didn’t argue. Just turned around and walked away.
We reported her. Took down the stream. Alerted the agency and other parents.
But the most important thing we did?
We hugged Beau. Tight.
We got him a silver name tag with the words:
“Zoey’s Guardian.”
And from that day forward, he slept wherever he wanted. Right next to her crib. Right where he belongs.
We don’t question his barking anymore. We listen.
